Hip-hop veteran DJ Funk Flex hopped on Instagram and apologized to RZA and the Wu-Tang Clan for holding a grudge that lasted more than two decades.

In a photo posted by Flex, he is seen sitting next to RZA, one of the founders of the legendary rap collective. Funk Flex issued an apology in the lengthy caption:

“I wanna take this time and apologize to the RZA and the entire Wu-Tang Clan,” Funk Flex posted. “Almost 25 [years] ago, me and Hot 97 had a disagreement that to me never got put to bed and I apologize.”

The beef stems from 1997’s Summer Jam, where Hot 97 issued an ultimatum that the collective performs or they don’t get airplay on their station. Wu-Tang then returned to Summer Jam in 2013.

Letting Bygones Be Bygones

Over the last couple of years, rappers have squashed beef after decades, such as rap greats Diddy and Dr. Dre spotted in the studio for the first time since the 1990s East Coast/West Coast rap beef.

Superstar rappers Drake and Kanye West met face-to-face in 2021 to resolve their beef with Houston music executive J. Prince

Recently, NBA YoungBoy and Kodak Black also resolved their differences on facetime in January after beefing since 2017. In 2022, legendary rapper 50 Cent did not resolve beef with a rapper but did with an athlete.

50 and boxing great Floyd Mayweather ended their nearly decade-long feud during 50’s Tycoon Weekend in Houston.
