The 9th annual New York Music Month festival is currently in full swing, delivering an ambitious program designed to bolster New York City’s vibrant music ecosystem. Following a successful kickoff on June 3 with the Flagship NYMM Conference in Lower Manhattan, the festival has curated a diverse calendar of events that cater to both industry professionals and casual fans alike.

With over 60 free events scheduled through June 30—including more than 20 performances and 40 educational talks—the festival remains a cornerstone for local talent. Live concerts from New York City-based artists such as Kelsey Lu, The Antlers, and SALIMATA will take place across all five boroughs. Additionally, the festival highlights the importance of independent radio through curated showcases from WNYC, WFUV, WFMU, The Lot Radio, and WKCR.

Professional Development and Rehearsal Resources

Beyond the stage, New York Music Month provides essential infrastructure for local musicians. The festival has facilitated access to free rehearsal spaces, including:

  • Smash Studios (Manhattan): A professional facility equipped with drums, amps, keyboards, and vocal systems.
  • Greenwich House Music School (Manhattan): A non-profit community institution offering 14 dedicated studios.
  • Brooklyn Conservatory of Music (Park Slope): Providing 17 rehearsal studios for local artists.
  • Fenix Studios (Staten Island): Featuring six rehearsal studios and two recording suites equipped with professional-grade gear.

For those looking to engage with the industry, the remaining schedule includes high-profile discussions with Nile Rodgers, studio sessions with Young Guru, and electronic music sector workshops at Elsewhere.
