J. Cole and Jazzy started the conversation by relating to patiently waiting for Jay Z on two occasions. The main topic of discussion was the persistence that kept them focused on their careers.

Jazzy asked why persistence is important and the “No Role Modelz” rapper elaborated on being persistent:

“You can try ten times but on your eleventh you’d have made it happen on what you want. “

J. Cole used airplanes as an analogy to someone being successful with the idea, and the idea outlives their existence. Many before them have thought of it but did not make the idea into execution.

Lastly, he discussed how leaving your comfort zone is the fastest way to growth. It stretches you; he had to leave his comfort zone to make it happen. The reporter asked him about leaving North Carolina to move to New York.

J.Cole wasn’t the only rapper doing interviews at Governors Ball; Coi Leray has her eyes on more than music. After a standout performance at The Governors Ball in New York City, she dropped a hint to SOHH where fans may be seeing her next.
