50 Cent Slams STARZ…Again, Says When The Contract Is Over “He’s Out!” (And He’s Taking His Over 1 Million Subscribers With Him)

50 Cent announced on Instagram yesterday that he’s planning to leave the STARZ network and take all his hit shows with him. His highly-rated show, “Power,” is still yet to be renewed by the network.  The hit-making TV exec’s shows hold a lot of weight with fans and his departure will be a massive hit on subscriptions.

50 Has Had Enough

50 Cent is known for “trolling” on social media and dragging businesses and people he’s doing deals with.  This week, the rapper-turned-hit TV show exec is calling out STARZ – once again – for misdealings with his POWER franchise.

50 went full Kanan on STARZ on social media, posting a series of memes to let the network and the world know that he is ready to bounce if they’re not about that business. Under a meme of a man packing his suitcase he slammed STARZ with the caption:

“This is me packing my stuff, STARZ ??Sucks, my deal is up over here I’m out. They Renewed High town and FORCE is the highest rated show they have it sitting in limbo. If I told you how much dumb sh!t I deal with over here. ?‍♂️”

This isn’t the first time 50 has spoken about leaving STARZ. In May 2021, he hit up his Instagram page to acknowledge making a social media mistake. 50 posted up a since-deleted shot of “Power Book III” actress Patina Miller and – after getting STARZ upset – called out the network for being a mess.

50 and STARZ didn’t always have such bad blood.  Back when 50 was in promo mode for Power Season 6, he offered his full support of the network, called STARZ “the real deal” and posted an image of himself wearing a t-shirt that read “Netflix and Chill?  NAH, STARZ and f*ck”

Fans Say There’s No Starz W/O 50 Cent

Fans on social media have reacted to 50’s announcement about leaving STARZ and taking his shows with him. Many were supportive and even more were very critical of STARZ for not recognizing 50’s contributions to the network.

One fan summed it up like this: “No bullshit, Power & BMF are the only reasons I have a Starz sub. If you made your own streaming platform, I would cancel Starz and sub to yours without a second thought.”

50 Cent Put Starz on The Map

50 Cent wants all the credit for the money he’s making for STARZ.  For the record, he’s willing to put his numbers up side-by-side with top shows on HBO and Showtime.

With the wild success of his real-life-inspired series’ “BMF”, “Power” and the new “Power Book III: Raising Kanan”, 50 Cent has proven that the portrayal of lives outside of the typical TV/Hollywood format can be wildly popular. After the success of “Power” for six seasons on television, 50 Cent launched secondary shows that have been critical successes in their own rights.

So it’s not far-fetched to say that he breathed life into the fledgling STARZ network.  The CEO of STARZ parent company of Starz, Jon Feltheimer, revealed that Raising Kanan helped bring nearly 1m subscribers to STARZ within its first week.
