Watch the official trailer for American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, co-starring Donald Glover

21 Savage has shared a music video that purportedly doubles as the first official trailer for American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, a feature film about his life, with Donald Glover taking the role of 21 in the present and Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin playing the rapper’s younger self. Donald’s younger brother Stephen Glover, who wrote for his elder sibling’s hit FX series Atlanta, is listed as the first of four directors in the clip’s credits.

The video arrived today (Monday, January 8) after 21 posted a promotional image on Instagram featuring himself flanked by the two actors, both of whom are seen sporting his signature “knife” face tattoo. The FADER has reached out to representatives of 21 Savage and Donald Glover for more information.

The trailer depicts 21 Savage’s arrest in 2019 by immigration authorities. Later, it was revealed that the Atlanta-based rapper had been born in London, England and was living in the United States without legal status. An attorney for the rapper denied any intentional wrongdoing. This year he was granted “lawful permanent residency status” in the U.S.A.
