Trae Tha Truth, Saweetie, Slim Thug, DJ Khaled And More Respond To Mass Shooting At Texas Elementary School

Prominent Hip Hop artists responded to the deadly mass shooting that took place at a Texas elementary school yesterday. Texas authorities have confirmed the shooter, Salvador Ramos,  shot 19 children and two teachers. The 18-year-old shooter died during the massacre, right after shooting his grandmother, who is now in critical condition.

Houston, Texas rappers Trae tha Truth, Slim Thug, and Lil Keke reacted to the senseless violence that left eighteen elementary school children dead. 

Trae tha Truth was set to meet President Biden to discuss the Buffalo mass shooting that occurred just 10 days before.  Instead, he decided to stay on the ground with fellow Texans mourning the mass killing at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.   He wrote, “ I will have to pass, I will be in the field with the people in need.”

Houston’s Slim Thug shared pictures of some of the children who died, saying, “Prayers to the families of the victims ??.”

With 27 mass shootings so far in this year alone, Rapper Lil Keke says “??????. it’s crazy out here.”

Other Hip Hop artists responded on Twitter showing their support for the victims and their families. Rapper Saweetie expressed her despair saying, “All those innocent babies ?? this world man.”

DJ Khaled, who has two elementary school-aged sons, said, “we have to come together to make sure our kids is always safe !”

Young Money Entertainment shared a call to action, encouraging people to go beyond “thoughts and prayers” and speak in the voting booth saying ” 

“If what happened in Texas and Buffalo over the past 2 weeks isn’t enough for change, nothing will ever be. Vote for people who will make the changes we need. That’s the only way things actually change.”
