A massive, gold-coated sculpture by the Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama has become the striking new centerpiece of The Weeknd’s After Hours til Dawn Tour. The tour, which has already solidified its place in history as the highest-grossing tour by a male solo artist, now boasts another significant achievement: this colossal installation is the largest fine art piece ever commissioned specifically for a concert production.

The sculpture was created exclusively for the tour by Sorayama, the visionary artist widely celebrated for his iconic “Sexy Robot” series. Meticulously carved from polystyrene and cast in Toyama, Japan, the piece was finished with a hand-applied gold coating. To enhance its visual impact during live performances, the statue features laser-illuminated eyes and integrated smoke effects, creating a surreal, futuristic atmosphere that complements the tour’s aesthetic.

The After Hours til Dawn tour stands as one of the most attended and highest-grossing concert series of all time, having accumulated over $1 billion in revenue across 153 shows. Originally conceived to support his fourth studio album, After Hours, the tour underwent a significant evolution following the pandemic. It was subsequently revamped to incorporate material from his fifth and sixth studio albums, Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow, reflecting the artist’s continuous creative progression.

As The Weeknd continues to push the boundaries of live performance, this collaboration with Sorayama underscores his commitment to merging high-concept art with stadium-scale entertainment.
