Heading into last weekend, drug company Pfizer announced a hugely successful vaccine is being produced with German company BioNTech. The potential cure is reportedly 90 percent effective in preventing COVID-19 during its final stage of clinical tests.
Pfizer’s data has not been peer reviewed, and it still needs to do more work to prove the safety of the vaccine. But the announcement was a major step in the fight to stop the virus, which has killed more than 1.2 million people, put billions of people under lockdown, and hammed the global economy.
