The late Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle received a posthumous honor for his 2018 album Victory Lap, which went double platinum on its fifth anniversary.

Many of the tracks on the album have received a platinum plaque, with “Double Up” going triple platinum and “Dedication” featuring Kendrick Lamar double platinum.

Other songs that have received a platinum plaque include “Blue Laces 2,” “Last Time That I Checc’d” featuring YG, and “Rap N*ggas.” Other songs on the album went gold, such as “Keyz 2 The City 2,” “Right Hand To God,” “Young N*gga,” and “Status Symbol” featuring Buddy.

Gone But Never Forgotten

Nipsey has been honored several times since his passing on March 31, 2019. A college course based on his success will be taught at Loyola Marymount University in the spring, and a documentary about him is also in the works.

In the past, rappers had more accolades in death than when they lived.

For instance, the late Memphis rapper Young Dolph was honored with his own “Day Of Service” in Memphis, and a mural of him was created in Miami. In addition, late Brooklyn rap legend Notorious B.I.G. had a statue made in his honor around the Brooklyn Bridge 25 years after his death.
