Lil Uzi Vert’s Top 5 Most Influential Rappers Includes Mike Jones: “He Had That Star Power”

Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert is giving credit where credit is due. After joining New York hip-hop veteran Fat Joe for The Fat Joe Show on Instagram Live, he gave his flowers to the artists who’ve influenced him the most.

Lil Uzi Vert Names His Top 5 Biggest Rap Influences

Lil Uzi went on social media to name his top five influences. His most influential rappers has fans shocked, as he drops some surprising names. Uzi put Mike Jones at the top of the list, Lil Wayne next, and also named Remy Ma, Kurupt, and Young Thug to round it out.

“The first rapper that I ever learned lyric for lyric was Mike Jones. That’s the first rapper I learned everything lyric for lyric and I wanted to be like him… I had a Boost Mobile and my mom would give me $15 and I’d get phone cards and sh*t and I would spend all my money calling Mike Jones’ number ‘cause I wanted to talk to him. I remember the number by heart. To this day: 281-330-8004. I felt that star power from him. He had that star power.”

And then after Mike Jones, of course, I wanted to be Lil Wayne. When I was younger girls would say I looked like Lil Wayne, so I would run with that. And I would wear fedoras, and I would wear the tight polo tees with the skinnies, and wear the Vans and sh*t. And back then, I ordered a fake piercing off Amazon and it was a magnet and I had it [on my lip] and I would wear it every day like I was Lil Wayne.”

Lil Uzi Speaks On Eternal Atake

The Philadelphia rapper also spilled all the details about his past album Eternal Atake. He went online to speak on his long-awaited project that fans were itching to be dropped for over two years. During Lil Uzi’s time on Instagram with Fat Joe, he dished out his thoughts on the project, admitting it wasn’t great and giving out some other details about the creative process behind it.

“I say the music wasn’t that great for me, it would have been an amazing project for anyone else, but the music wasn’t that great. It’s great ride music and it could live, you know how sh*t goes, maybe in a little bit of time there’ll be a hit off there. Usually, my sh*t is automatic and I had one or two great songs on there out of a whole f*cking deluxe and a whole album and after I sat back– you know how you’re in the studio, Joe, and you listen to music so loud that your ears are bleeding? I actually, this time, I’m taking my time.”

“I have no problem putting out a leaked song but sometimes that sh*t is personal, Joe. Sometimes it’s like, the time and everything, and ‘come on, Uzi, we need to drop’ and I didn’t want it to go on to three years. So I dropped this album and the music is tolerable. It’s not, ‘oh my god, this is sh*t’. The music is definitely there, it’s good production. But, honestly, from Lil Uzi Vert we expect a f*cking star, moon, spaceships and the high above. We expect everything from him because I’m already giving off this persona. I have a f*cking pink diamond in the middle of my head, Joe. Everything is supposed to be going f*cking diamond.”

Lil Uzi Embraces WandaVision Joke

Uzi is finally joining in on the jokes. The hip-hop star recently came forward to share some new pics of himself and embrace viral memes poking fun at his new forehead diamond. Uzi Vert went to his Instagram page with a slew of new selfie pics. The last shot in his slideshow features a spot-on shot of Disney Plus’ “WandaVision” show which has sparked a flurry of Uzi memes.

There are still a lot of questions about Lil Uzi Vert and his forehead diamond. Did he really get it implanted into his skin? Is the rock really worth $24 million? Why is he trying to morph into the dude from “WandaVision”? Earlier in the week, the chart-topping artist shared a video on Instagram showing off the diamond up-close.

“Beauty is pain ??”
