The Proud Family Reboots Gets A Release Date
The Proud Family is getting an official reboot and 90s babies couldn’t be happier.
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Disney Channel’s hit series, has received an official date for when it will be released on Disney+.
The reboot will see a majority of the original characters returning to reprise their roles. The show’s trailer teases a star-studded lineup for the voice cast, including Gabrielle Union, Lizzo, and Lil Nas X.
First confirmed last year this time, the first two episodes of the Proud Family reboot will drop on February 23rd.
QuestLove And BlackThought To Create New Disney+ Series, MasterClass Gives Free Access To Black Leader Courses
Iconic musicians from The Roots – Questlove and Black Thought – have been in their TV bag lately, coming together to create a show that’s perfect for Black History Month. The pair are executive producing Rise Up, Sing Out, a series of animated shorts to showcase “an inspiring, empowering and optimistic message about race, culture, community and celebrating differences.”
Rise Up, Sing Out is already out with eight episodes streaming on Disney+. Each runs for one to two minutes. The first episode debuted last Wednesday on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior.
For the adults in the building, Masterclass is giving everyone free access to their courses with seven preeminent Black thought leaders sharing their insight on the reckoning with race in America in three parts: past, present, and future.
The series features Angela Davis, Cornel West, Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Sherrilyn Ifill, Jelani Cobb, and John McWhorter.
Boondocks Reboots Gets Unfortunately Canceled
Though many were pumped for the return of the wildly funny animated series The Boondocks, it seems there won’t be a reboot. HBO Max and Warner Media had greenlighted two additional seasons of the series back in 2020, though fans haven’t heard much since.
In the wake of the death of John Witherspoon, who played Pops, and the death of Regina King’s son, the news of the cancellation landed softly. Regina King played the roles of the main characters Riley and Huey.
In a podcast interview, the actor Cedric Yarbrough, who plays Tom Dubois on the series, said “I hate to say this, but right now the show is not coming back.”
