Eminem Makes Workouts Stronger

According to research conducted by gym chain PureGym, listening to Eminem helps workout warriors with the average increasing at 12.68% while the weight-lift increase goes to 7.5kg. The only 4 musicians to top the “Cleaning Out My Closet” rapper are Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, and BTS.

The research monitored the performance of gym-goers while listening to various music vs. working out in silence, and found that although almost any artist and genre can positively impact your workouts, when it comes to hip-hop/rap, Eminem is the biggest hype-man.

Increasing weight lifted during bench presses, deadlifts and squats by an average of 12.68% (an extra 7.5kg based on a 60kg control lift) tracks including ‘Till I Collapse and Godzilla provide some serious gym fuel.

Using the back catalogs of artists regularly featured in popular gym playlists, the research found that across the board, listening while you lift will give a strength boost of 13% on average. Meaning that if a person currently benches 80kg, a good tune should take it up to a new PB at 90kg!

Stephen Rowe, Chief Marketing Officer at PureGym commented: “Whether it’s going for a run or lifting weights, many people feel they can’t exercise properly without having their favourite music playing, and it’s been fascinating to see with our study that there’s more to it than just musical preference.
