Some artists truly don’t care about the Grammy Awards, and some just act like they don’t care. The Weeknd is different. The R&B crooner didn’t hide his outrage when he first got snubbed by the Grammys, but now he says he’s over it.
The Weeknd Deals With Grammy Snub
When Grammy nominations were announced in November and The Weeknd was completely snubbed for his album After Hours, no one could believe it. The artist reacted by calling the awards “corrupt” and demanding answers. In a recent Billboard magazine cover story, he shows he’s moved on.
“Look, I personally don’t care anymore. I have three Grammys, which mean nothing to me now, obviously. It’s not like, ‘Oh, I want the Grammy!’ It’s just that this happened, and I’m down to get in front of the fire, as long as it never happens again. I suck at giving speeches anyways. Forget awards shows.”
The Weeknd Is Ready For The Super Bowl Stage
One of the conspiracy theories floating around was that the Grammys were punishing The Weeknd after he decided to perform the Super Bowl halftime show rather than perform at the Grammys. Abel’s anticipated performance at the big game is coming up on Feb. 7.

The Weeknd Reveals His Inspiration
Abel Tesfaye says he’s been more inspired than ever before during the pandemic. His reasoning included a variety of things, including the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I have been more inspired and creative during the pandemic than I might normally be while on the road… The pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the tensions of the election have mostly created a sense of gratitude for what I have and closeness with the people near me… I feel like I spent the last 10 years creating a sound and most of my career I’ve either been running away from it or duplicating it. After Hours was the perfect piece of art for me to show my tenure in the industry.”
The Weeknd’s First Sneaker Collab With Bape
The popular crooner made major moves in 2020. Recent pictures of another, but different, collaboration with Japanese streetwear brand Bape were recently released. The Weeknd debuted a new shoe with Bape on December 12th. Although he’s released other articles of clothing with them and his XO brand, this model of the Bape Sta 20th Artist Model Series was his first sneaker collabo with them.
