Why B0YG1RL’s ‘EXIT 2B’ Is the Soundtrack of the Summer

B0YG1RL has mastered the art of driving a dancefloor into a frenzy. The omnivorous electronic duo specializes in a distinct blend of Miami bass fused with regional dance staples like baile funk, Haitian konpas, and dembow riddims. While these influences might feel familiar to those entrenched in the EDM circuit, the duo’s output remains refreshingly raw and off-kilter. Their March EP 777 was an all-gas-no-brakes riot of fizzing synths and punishing basslines, anchored by the standout single “Je M’appelle Tété,” which quickly established itself as a contender for song of the summer. It is little surprise that the Novagang affiliates have already garnered support from artists like Nick Leon and Ninajirachi.

Singer-producers June Vinette and Angela Rio have returned with a new EP titled EXIT 2B. Named for the offramp to Biscayne Boulevard in Miami, the project features collaborations with Isabella Lovestory and KAY NIVE$. The pacing on this release marks a shift from their previous work, incorporating downtempo and lower-decibel tracks like “Burn” and “Take Me Home” to ground their more aggressive, redlining peaks. The project also showcases greater sonic variance, ranging from the bludgeoning 808s of “My people will destroy you” to the intricate, percussive shuffle of “Declaration.”

“Soleil,” featuring Isabella Lovestory, stands out as the tape’s centerpiece. Vinette’s bratty hook provides the perfect springboard for Lovestory to deliver a performance that is both haughty and brash, with the pair chanting, “I am the sun,” back and forth. Elsewhere, the woozy lurch of “Burn” highlights the duo’s versatility, as Vinette’s voice surges and recedes like the tide over a plucked guitar line and booming drums. As their profile continues to rise, EXIT 2B is poised to be a staple in clubs throughout the summer.
