Houston rapper Travis Scott and diamond mean more than just what he wears around his neck and wrists these days. The hip-hop superstar’s “SICKO MODE” anthem has officially hit 10 million sales in just 2 years.
Travis Scott’s Diamond Status
According to Scott’s Epic Records, Cactus Jack is officially diamond. The achievement gives Scott his first-ever 10 million in sales for an individual song.
Travis Scott’s history-making anthem “SICKO MODE”just reached Diamond status as certified by the RIAA. This marks the very first Diamond single for thesix-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, designer, style icon, ASTROWORLD Festival curator, and Cactus Jack record label founder. The song has eclipsed 1.2 billion Spotify streams and 735 million YouTube views on the music video thus far. “SICKO MODE” first appeared on his blockbuster 2018 third album, ASTROWORLD. Billboard crowned it one of the “Songs That Defined the Decade,” and it notably made history as “the first hip-hop track to spend at least 30 weeks in the Top 10 of the Hot 100.” Not to mention, it picked up a pair of GRAMMY® Award nominations for both “Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song” in 2019.
Since dropping in October 2018, Scott’s “SICKO MODE” music video has over 736 million YouTube views.
Travis Scott Featured In Forbes
Recently, Scott landed a huge feature in financial publication Forbes magazine’s “30 Under 30” special issue, which focused on his business ventures (Scott is working on a new hard seltzer drink, for example) and unique method of branding. The overall theme is that whereas most celebrities are told what to say by the companies they endorse, Travis Scott tells those companies what to say.

Scott’s New Album Due In 2021
The Forbes piece also mentions Scott’s next album, tentatively titled Utopia, is due to drop next year.
“I don’t think utopia is about high currency with everything being, like, a money thing,” Scott said in the interview. “I think it’s about people being naturally happy. The society we’re living in right now, it’s super-depressing in a sense of everything that’s happening in the world.”
TikTok Levels Up With Travis Scott + Lil Nas X’s Record Label
Digital giant TikTok’s popularity continues to grow. The massive social media platform recently announced an agreement with Sony Music Entertainment, ultimately giving users the ability to make songs from one of the biggest music companies in the world.
According to the announcement, with this deal, the TikTok creator community will have access to sound clips from Sony Music’s giant catalog of songs. TikTok and Sony Music will work together to support greater levels of TikTok user personalization and creativity on the platform, and “drive new and forward-looking opportunities for fan engagement” with SME’s artists and music. TikTok will also partner with Sony Music in promoting artists on the platform. (Variety)
