Rap crooner Tory Lanez has kept his word on keeping things a buck about what went down between himself and estranged friend Megan Thee Stallion. The Toronto native relied on his Instagram Live account to give his side of the July shooting he’s connected to.
Tory Lanez Goes Live + Addresses Shooting
During his broadcast, Lanez questioned why people immediately went after his head without getting all the details behind the incident.
“Learn the story first. Learn the factual parts of the story first and then get at me and be like, ‘Yo, you need to fix this and then this and then that,’ if that’s what you feel like I did. But instead I’m being toyed around for a narrative that’s like I’m the poster boy for I don’t like Black women. I want to get into this because it’s very important for me to just say this and I’m not here to bash this woman. I’m not here to come down on this woman. I’m not here to disrespect her or throw her under the bus but it comes to a certain standpoint where I can’t let my character to be assassinated for things that are not even really true.”
Lanez took things a bit further by explaining how Megan Thee Stallion’s narrative appeared to change after she realized the incident turned them into a viral joke.
“She goes through a lot and she deals with a lot on a day to day basis and because of that, she’s not used to – we’ve never seen a moment where the memes come at like, ‘N*gga, let’s laugh at your pain! Ha! Ha! Ha!’ She’s never had to deal with that because she’s always been praised. So everything that’s been happening to her is a reaction to everything that’s been going on. So it gets down to this point now where the reports are starting to say – nobody has ever said she got shot. Nobody ever said she got shot. Not TMZ. Not the police report. Nothing is saying she got shot. Soon as she sees herself on video with the bikini and the things like that, it looks bad, she then says, ‘Yo, the narrative of me getting cut by glass is not true.’ She doesn’t point at nobody or say anything – she says she was shot at her feet with the intention to harm me and put harm and danger upon me.”

Tory Lanez’s Bodyguard Reveals Truth
In some new must-hear audio, Tory’s alleged bodyguard painted a very different picture than what most media outlets and rapper Megan Thee Stallion herself have presented. According to the unnamed security employee, the July 2020 shooting all stemmed from drama centered on Meg finding out Lanez had allegedly slept with at least one woman in a truck they were in. A struggle over the bodyguard’s gun ultimately forced the shot to go off.
Meg Thee Stallion Exposes More Shooting Details
In a recent must-read New York Times op-ed piece, Stallion didn’t hold back on sharing a firm stance for protecting Black women as violence and inequality comes their way. She also made it no secret to suffering herself from violence struck her way by the opposite sex – presumably Lanez on July 12.
“I was recently the victim of an act of violence by a man – after a party, I was shot twice as I walked away from him. We were not in a relationship. Truthfully, I was shocked that I ended up in that place … Too many men treat all women as objects, which helps them to justify inflicting abuse against us when we choose to exercise our own free will. … There’s not much room for passionate advocacy if you are a Black woman.” (New York Times)
Meg also went to her Instagram page to plug the feature and spoke on the importance of defending Black women.
“This piece really means a lot to me and I hope it touches everyone ?? I will never bite my tongue, I will never allow anyone to silence me, I will never be scared to stand up for myself and others, and I DAMN SURE WILL NEVER BE SCARED TO BE MY TRUE AUTHENTIC STRONG BLACK SELF ? thank you @nytopinion for the platform and thank you to all the beautiful women involved ✊?✊?✊?✊?” -Megan Thee Stallion’s Instagram
Recently, Brianne Patrice of mental health services organization The Sad Girls Club shared her thoughts with SOHH on the Megan Thee Stallion situation and how “the Black Man is the Black woman’s oppressor.”
“White men are the black man’s oppressor and black men have become the black woman’s. We are exhausted with nowhere to put these stories or voice our experiences; nowhere to be felt, nowhere for our scars to heal and for our bodies to mourn. Thus, we walk around exposed, wounded and cut open.” (SOHH)
