Saweetie Recognizes The Power In Herself

Saweetie is more comfortable in her skin than ever. She spoke to Cosmopolitan about her prior struggles and how she’s come to accept her body and herself as a person. Saw opened up about how she finally found love for herself in 2020. She says she recognizes the power of her beauty and has worked through dealing with bullying from a radio host that resulted in what Saweetie called PTSD.

“Last year was the year that I finally became comfortable in my own skin. I kind of figured out what my purpose was. I think it’s important to show little Black and brown girls that they can be successful in whatever they want to do. If I can do it, you can do it too. I won’t act like there isn’t a certain type of power that comes with people admiring your face. But that’s not something that gets me off. I like being Female Athlete of the Year. I like getting 4.0s for a straight year. I like knowing that I write my own songs. I like knowing that I create my own treatments. I like knowing that I donated $150,000 to Black Lives Matter.

Saweetie further spoke on Hot 97’s Ebro Darden bashing her in November 2018 for her “basic” freestyle.

“It was a really dark point in my life. I went from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Grl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I was like, Wait… I had PTSD from that.” (Cosmopolitan)

Saweetie Bounces Off Quavo

The California native is making people turn pages – literally. The hip-hop star surprised fans by landing the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine. She went to her Instagram page to show off her new cover shot. Along with the issue’s front page, Saw unloaded a grip of feature pics from the shoot.

“Had so much fun shooting this thank you @cosmopolitan! ??? #prettyb*tchsummer playlist coming soon ?”

Announcing Single Status

Recently, Saweetie went to her Twitter page to break massive news to fans. Despite dating Quavo for over a year, the California rapper hinted at an affair possibly splitting them apart.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women. … I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation ??”

The heartbreaking split between Saweetie and the Migos star has generated a slew of celebrity reactions.
