Minneapolis-based trans artist, producer, singer, and rapper ZORA just dropped a trans pop anthem, coming after her debut singles  “Runnitup” and “Happiest I’ve Ever Been”. “All Around the World,” released days ago, has been declared an anthem for transpeople facing harmful threats and discriminatory anti-trans bills nationwide.

ZORA stated that the song is supposed to be one “that we could dance to, rejoice in, and just celebrate being us. With today’s climate, there are so many times that we only hear about trans people when we’re dying or at risk somehow and I wanted to create a song to remind us just how powerful we are, and to remind the masses that we’re not going anywhere.”

The single will also be featured with “Runnitup” and “Happiest I’ve Ever Been” on Z1, her upcoming debut album. Z1 will be arriving via Get Better Records on June 17.

If I Am From God, I Am Everything

The LGBTQ+ community continues to take center stage as Janelle Monae confirmed she is nonbinary. To be nonbinary is to identify as neither male nor female‍.

“I’m nonbinary, so I just don’t see myself as a woman, solely,” Monae said during the April interview with Red Table Talk.  “I feel all of my energy. I feel like God is so much bigger than the ‘he’ or the ‘she.’ If I am from God, I am everything.”

Though Janelle doesn’t fully identify as a woman she clarified she will always be in support of women. “I am everything, but I will always, always stand with women. I will always stand with Black women. But I just see everything beyond the binary.”
