Bobby Shmurda rose to sudden fame with his single ‘Hot N***a’ in 2014, but his career came to a sudden halt the same year when he and his associates were arrested on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit murder.
Jay-Z referenced the rapper in his song ‘Bam’ off the 4:44 album, utilizing a punchline about his violent tendencies. He rapped, “I’ll Bobby Shmurda anybody you heard of,” which remains one of the most memorable bars on the project. However, the artist behind the name has now accused Jay-Z and Roc Nation of mismanaging his career.
This is only the beginning of the controversy; Bobby Shmurda, in an Instagram post, proceeded to accuse Jay-Z and his legal team of pressuring him into accepting a plea deal. According to his statement, he informed the judge of this pressure, but the judge remained indifferent. “The judge said he didn’t care he was sending me and all my friends upstate and we can get it on appeal,” he concluded.
