Nas Follows JAY-Z’s Blueprint + Ventures Into Cannabis Biz

New York rapper Nas is following his longtime friend JAY-Z‘s blueprint. The hip-hop veteran has announced his involvement in executive producing, and narrating an upcoming cannabis-centered documentary called SMOKE.

Nas Ventures Into Cannabis

Nasir Jones went to his Instagram page to break the huge news. The rap heavyweight also acknowledged getting put up on the cannabis culture late and needing to speak up for the uphill battles the Black community deals with from both the business and recreational sides.

“Nov. 18. “The world has finally begun opening up to the cannabis industry the way I feel it should have years ago,” says Nasir “Nas” Jones. “Even still, hate exists in this business for black people, and that is something that sickens me and should be recognized for its blatant evil. The people that have been locked up for marijuana should not only be freed but receive restitution for the damage done to them by outdated laws. It’s important to spread awareness on this, and that’s why everyone needs to make sure they tune in and watch the documentary ‘SMOKE!’” ~ Nasir Jones” -Nas’ Instagram

JAY-Z’s Cannabis Ventures

Recently, music mogul JAY-Z branched out his relationship with cannabis brand Caliva. The rap heavyweight launched his own cannabis line and relied on his streaming platform TIDAL to promote it.

He launched a cannabis line called Monogram Friday. It’s a partnership with California cannabis company Caliva. The website teases glossy shots of marijuana, but gives no information on what it will offer or a release date. Would-be customers can check the site to be “first in line for the drop.” A playlist entitled “Monogram: Sounds From the Grow Room” was also released this week on Jay-Z’s streaming service platform, Tidal. It’s got Bob Marley, The Beatles and Rihanna.” (CNN)
