Xscape’s Kandi Burruss is giving her longtime friend and fellow group member Tameka “Tiny” Harris the benefit of the doubt. The popular entertainer has come forward to share thoughts on her pal and T.I.‘s publicized sexual abuse drama.
Kandi Burruss Speaks Up For Tiny + T.I.
Instead of going off on Tiny and T.I. over the allegations, Burruss appeared on “What What Happens Live” and admitted society as a whole needed to stop rushing to conclusions. She also admitted to never witnessing Tiny doing anything she’s accused of including trafficking and drugging women.
“You’re guilty until proven innocent instead of [being] innocent until proven guilty. And I don’t like that. I don’t like when people start rumors on folks and I would like for society to stop being so quick to try and make somebody guilty without really taking the time to get real evidence.” (“Watch What Happens Live”)
Burruss also admitted to having a close-knit bond to Tip and Tiny. Kandi dished on just how far back her relationship with T.I.’s wife goes.
“They are like family to me. Tiny and I grew up together. Because of the things that were said on our show before, people always try to wrap me up into any rumor that happens right now, [and] I don’t like that. I don’t like what’s happening right now.” (“Watch What Happens Live”)
Production Suspended On T.I. + Tiny’s Show
Beauty entrepreneur Sabrina Peterson, a former friend of the Harrises, recently accused T.I. of holding a gun to her head. Then on social media, she posted a series of messages she received from women accusing T.I. and Tiny of abusing, drugging, coercing and trafficking them for sexual purposes. While the situation is sorted out, T.I. and Tiny’s reality show has been put on pause.
“We are aware of the allegations, and while they are not connected to our show, we have reached out to T.I. and Tameka Harris, as well as local and state officials. Given the serious nature of the allegations, we have decided to suspend production in order to gather more information.” (MTV Entertainment)
T.I. Says ‘I Ain’t Never Raped Nobody’
Tip is having his name dragged through the mud. He recently posted an eight-minute video on Instagram addressing the allegations, in which he never mentions Peterson.
“First and foremost, I want to say my wife is a beautiful person with an amazing spirit and a kind heart. She’s a devoted mother and she has a humble soul. She don’t deserve any of this. She don’t deserve this. Now what we not going to do is open up the bedroom to my bedroom, as you shouldn’t have to either, open up the bedroom to my bedroom for everyone to come in and chime in and give their opinions about what we do and don’t do – but I will say this. Whatever we ever have done has been done with consensual adults who into what we into and like what we like. If we want something, we know exactly where to go to get it. We ain’t never forced nobody, drug nobody against their will, held nobody against their will, we ain’t never made nobody do anything. We ain’t never traffic anything. Well, sexually traffic anything. I ain’t never raped nobody. Never raped nobody.”
T.I. + Tiny’s Joint Statement
T.I. and Tiny also released a statement to the media — which does bring up Peterson by name — calling the accusations “egregiously appalling.”
Mr. and Mrs. Harris want to be on record and more importantly want the public to know they emphatically deny in the strongest way possible the egregiously appalling allegations being made against them by Sabrina Peterson. The Harrises have had difficulty with this woman for well over a decade. They are taking this matter very seriously, and if these allegations don’t end, they will take appropriate legal action.
