R&B singer Kehlani raised eyebrows of some perceptive fans who had noticed that she unfollowed rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion on Instagram. It was a seemingly strange move, coming not long after Kehlani showed public support for Meg by removing Tory Lanez from her album.
Kehlani Says There’s No Beef With Meg
Kehlani quickly took to IG to address the issue (almost) before it became a storm of juicy rumors, explaining why she unfollowed Meg.
“I am unfollowing everyone and starting at zero, Instagram only lets you go a certain amount at a time. I am trying to get to zero to start over again. I followed 2300 people.”
As for the rumors of a feud between her and Megan Thee Stallion, she wrote:
“Y’all theories are a** juice and instagram is toxic which is why i’m tryna clean my timeline up to stay off of it,” she added. “If u follow me closely you know i been off twitter for a while too. i’m in a great placeeeeee mind ur beeeeez life is goooood.”
Meg Thee Stallion Exposes Shooting Details
Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion isn’t staying silent. The hip-hop star came forward this week to speak out on the importance of protecting Black women and why she’s not afraid of getting criticized for it as a victim to the near-death shooting allegedly at the hands of Lani’s friend Tory Lanez.
“I was recently the victim of an act of violence by a man – after a party, I was shot twice as I walked away from him. We were not in a relationship. Truthfully, I was shocked that I ended up in that place … Too many men treat all women as objects, which helps them to justify inflicting abuse against us when we choose to exercise our own free will. … There’s not much room for passionate advocacy if you are a Black woman.” (New York Times)
Meg also went to her Instagram page to plug the feature and spoke on the importance of defending Black women.
“This piece really means a lot to me and I hope it touches everyone ?? I will never bite my tongue, I will never allow anyone to silence me, I will never be scared to stand up for myself and others, and I DAMN SURE WILL NEVER BE SCARED TO BE MY TRUE AUTHENTIC STRONG BLACK SELF ? thank you @nytopinion for the platform and thank you to all the beautiful women involved ✊?✊?✊?✊?” -Megan Thee Stallion’s Instagram
Kehlani Reacts To Young M.A’s Shout-Out
The West Coast crooner is keeping it 100 for Young M.A. Recently, Kehlani joined M.A on her Apple Music 1 “Me Always Radio” to dish on everything from getting a flirty shout-out on 2019’s “BIG” anthem and working with rap artist Russ.
“I loved it. I loved it. I thought it was really cool. I thought it was funny. I think that public reactions are just hilarious to me in general, so it was funny to see what people thought was going on or what they thought it meant, or just the timing on top of it. I don’t know, but I mean I am probably the most heavily tattooed woman in the industry, probably. So it was just, who else could you say? You know what I’m saying?” (“Me Always Radio with Young M.A”)
Kehlani Talks About Working With Russ
Lani also talked about working with Russ on their new “Take You Back” anthem. Keh detailed just how far back their relationship really goes.
“We knew each other for a while, and he was always trying to get a song going and the timing was never right. I was always busy or he would be in town and I would be gone, or I would be wherever he lives and then he would be gone. And it just kept happening like that. And so he actually got on his live and played the song and was like, “Y’all Kehlani would be fire on this.” And so my phone blew up, and then I listened and I was like, “Okay, I’m actually in the studio so just send it to me right now.” And then we knocked it out and it was really, really cool. And he shot this crazy a** video. The video is crazy.” (“Me Always Radio with Young M.A”)
