Jay-Z is suing the photographer who shot his Reasonable Doubt cover for using his name and image continuously without his consent. The two will go to court over demands that the photographer stops exploiting Jay-Z’s likeness or name for profit on his website.

Back in June 2021, Hip-Hop photographer Jonathan Mannion was sued by Shawn Carter after Mannion was found to be exploiting images of the rap icon without his permission and without payment.
Mannion has a history with Jay-Z, having shot photographs for his previous album covers, including “In My Lifetime, Vol. 1, Vol. 2. Hard Knock Life, Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter, The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, The Blueprint, and The Black Album.”
In docs obtained by TMZ, the photographer has been exploiting the photographs for profit, plastering the rap mogul’s name and likeness all over his website and selling photos of Jay-Z for thousands of dollars. When asked to stop, Mannion demanded millions in return.
Jay-Z, RocNation Settle Investor Scam Lawsuit
In other Jay-Z legal news, Roc Nation has finally reached a settlement on behalf of its gaming subsidiary, Unanimous Games.
Jay-Z’s cousin, Briant Biggs, was accused of working with a group to raise $1.5 million for a new gaming division of Roc Nation. Biggs allegedly promised Blueprint Capital CEO that their investment would be repaid but it never was. It was also alleged that Biggs promised that rappers, including Yo Gotti and Meek Mill, would contribute to the $1.5 million that was being raised for the gaming company. However, there were claims that it never happened.
Jay-Z Wins $67 Million Cologne Lawsuit
Jay-Z left a Manhattan courthouse on Wednesday, November 10th smiling and still rich. A judge ruled that he “failed” to prove his case — and so did Parlux Fragrances — ending the breach of contract lawsuit with Parlux Fragrances for the Gold by Jay Z fragrance line.
