North Carolina rapper DaBaby recently lost his older brother. Glenn Johnson, 34, reportedly took his own life. He had a history of mental health issues.
DaBaby Addresses Depression + PTSD
While grieving his loss, DaBaby tweeted about the importance of mental health awareness. “If you can’t get over depression GET HELP,” he wrote on Twitter. “You see a loved one struggling get them help, they refuse help, MAKE em get treated anyway. You suffer from PTSD take that s*** serious & get help! I’m bouta get a therapist my damn self!”
DaBaby Speaks After Brother’s Death
DB went to his Twitter page and shared an introspective tweet about the concept of dying. Baby acknowledged the pain a lost one has on family members upsets him the most.

DaBaby Confirms Brother’s Passing
Earlier in the week, Baby went to his Instagram page shortly after the news went viral to share a message about his brother. The hip-hop start didn’t go directly to an Instagram post and – instead – shared a caption in his bio to confirm the loss.

DaBaby Gets Deeper On Social Media
Baby also took things a bit further with some other odes to his brother. He shared a pic of himself alongside his niece and also referenced his brother with some lyrics.
Soon after, DaBaby shared a video of himself sitting alongside his niece. “NIECEY POO ???” he captioned the Instagram story snippet. “I love you,” he said to his young niece who responded, “I love you too.” The rapper later further addressed his family’s loss in another Instagram Story, sharing lyrics from his “Intro” on his Kirk album. “My brother be thinkin’ that we don’t love him and let him struggle like we ain’t family/Like I won’t give up all I got to see you happy, n—,” DaBaby raps in the song. He then captioned the story: “I would’ve gave up all I had to see you happy n—.” (PEOPLE)
