“Barbie” Live-Action Movie Misses Mark Without Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj will not make an appearance in the new live-action Barbie movie. The trailer released on April 4 didn’t include any signs of the Queen of rap. Her absence has left fans confused.

When the trailer for the new live-action film, Barbie, released on April 4, fans were confused when they realized rap superstar, Nicki Minaj, was not in the film.

One fan said  on Twitter said, “Like how are you gonna do a Barbie movie and not include Nicki Minaj?”

The “Super Freaky Girl” artist has built her brand around the popular doll, and even nicknamed her fanbase “The Barbz.”

In fact, the rapper has shouted out the doll in numerous songs like:

Barbie Dreams

“I’m just Playin’, But I’m Sayin’ (Barbie Dreams)”

Barbie Tingz

“Barbie Tingz, That’s Barbie Tingz”

Roman Reloaded

“Ask Mattel, they auctioned my Barbie,  bitch”

Itty Bitty Piggy

“Nicki the Ninja, Nicki the Boss, Nicki the Harajuku Barbie”

Also the music video to her song  “Super Freaky Girl” was inspired by the Barbie Dreamhouse lifestyle. The video showed her in a pink house, driving a pink car, and with Ken beside her. 

In September 2022, after the announcement of the new flavors of Rap Snacks in partnership with The PinkPrint rapper. The three flavors listed “Barbie-Que,” “Salt and Vinegar,” and “Sour Cream and Ranch.”

According to Billboard, one of the flavors for the Rap Snacks was “Barbie-Que.” The toy company, Mattel, who created the Barbie doll, sued Rap Snacks for copyright infringement, which forced the snack brand to change from “Barbie-Que” to “Bar-B-Quin.”

Shortly after, the toy company asked the judge to dismiss the case after the snack food brand decided to pay a settlement to the popular toy company. 

In 2011, Mattel created one in honor of the Queen singer for charity. 

The doll sported vibrant pink hair, the rap mogul’s signature look. The dress the doll wore was made out of a light pink tulle material with diamonds and a Barbie chain. This marks the last time the Barbie brand has acknowledged the “Moment 4 Life” singer.
