The state of Florida has a reputation for being the most reckless COVID-19 cesspool in the U.S., but some local officials are still trying to stop the spread. The mayor of St. Petersburg, Fla., spoke up for his city after hip-hop superstar 50 Cent threw a mask-less Super Bowl party on Sunday.
50 Cent Gets Blasted By Mayor Over Super Bowl Party
Even in a pandemic, a lot of Super Bowl parties were thrown in Florida over the weekend. 50 Cent’s event took place at a private airport hangar in St. Petersburg, and it appeared masks were scarce. Mayor Rick Kriseman came down on the Grammy winner, calling the party “stupid” among other things.
“This isn’t how we should be celebrating the Super Bowl. It’s not safe or smart. It’s stupid. We’re going to take a very close look at this, and it may end up costing someone a lot more than 50 cent.”
50 Joins The Club W/ Bow Wow + Trey Songz
Add Curtis Jackson to the list of rap and R&B artists who have drawn high-profile criticism for COVID-related reasons. Bow Wow (Texas) and Trey Songz (Ohio) were recently knocked for putting on concerts in front of mask-less crowds in packed clubs.
