Viral sensation Erica Banks has gotten a lot of celebrities on-board with her #BussItChallenge twerk anthem. But one of those co-signs has reignited buzz that there’s low-key beef between Banks and fellow Texas rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Erica Banks Gets In The Middle Of Tory Lanez Vs. Meg Thee Stallion
Maybe overnight star Erica Banks was simply amused by Toronto rapper Tory Lanez‘s reaction to a fan’s “Buss It” challenge video. But when she reposted Tory’s video on Instagram, it raised eyebrows — since Tory is still facing charges of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. Meanwhile, Banks is often accused of being a Megan copycat, and she’s signed to the same 1501 Certified record label that’s in a contract dispute with Megan.
“@torylanez goin Crazy ????? BUSS ITTTTT ? KEEP STREAMING!”
Was Eric Banks Being Messy W/ Tory Lanez Video?
Fans and followers seem split on what Erica meant (or didn’t mean) with her post. Some say she’s just trying to further her career by showing another popular artist jamming to her hit song. Others say she was taking a subliminal jab at Megan Thee Stallion and aligning herself with Meg’s alleged shooter.
“Erica Banks is mad weird for reposting Tory. Even if it was innocent, it comes off like a goofy passive aggressive shot at Megan considering the entire picture.”
Erica Banks Sees Herself Working W/ Meg Thee Stallion
Banks said in a conversation with The Shade Room that she would make music with Meg Thee Stallion, and also wanted Nicki Minaj to hop on a remix. She says it’s all business and explained that she’d be down to work together despite everything that happened.
“I would collab with Megan Thee Stallion because, at the end of the day, it’s all business. It’s nothing personal. It’s been no secret that Meg and 1501 have been at odds and the rapper has even sued them after signing a management deal with Roc Nation. At the end of the day, we’re all artists and at the end of the day, we all do music. So, anything personal, which there is nothing, I wouldn’t even look at outside the business. So, we artists, we rap. It’s all good.”
Erica Banks Gets Signed After #BussItChallenge
Recently, Erica Banks took a sample from Nelly‘s “Hot In Herre,” turned it into her own single “Buss It,” and flipped that into a new deal with Warner Records. She’s already inked to Carl Crawford‘s 1501 Entertainment, the same team that launched Megan Thee Stallion’s career.
