The Verzuz battle between R&B divas Ashanti and Keyshia Cole was an overall success, but some of the moments that left everyone talking weren’t about their classic songs. One was an argument over which singer was supposed to go in which order.
Ashanti Addresses Dispute During Verzuz
Ashanti appeared on New York radio station Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” show to reflect on her Verzuz with Keyshia Cole and talked about the moment KC tried to play a song when it was actually her turn. Ashanti figured Keyshia simply was confused.
“I don’t know if they lost count but what happened was obviously it’s the first 10 records. So when she played ‘Heaven Sent,’ I guess she thought she was ending that batch of 10 but she didn’t realize it was number 11. So for me, I gotta answer her so I’m gonna answer her with my number 11. And then we gonna start the next set and it’s gonna be nine. So I think she kinda forgot and she kinda lost count.”
Bow Wow’s Cringe Comment About Keyshia Cole
Another awkward moment from the much-anticipated Verzuz was when rap veteran Bow Wow commented on Keyshia Cole’s late arrival to the proceedings. Fans were making plenty of jokes, to which Bow Wow added a quip referencing their alleged past romantic relationship.
“She was never this late when id call her over.”
Keyshia Cole Brings OT Genasis Out
Cole nearly crashed the Internet with a huge Verzuz cameo. Keyshia started up her unforgettable “Love” anthem and moments later, her perceived rap rival O.T Genasis hopped onto the screen as they both laughed and crooned a portion of his Crip-themed version.
O.T. Genasis makes an unexpected and well-received cameo during the Verzuz battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole. Cole showed the world they’re on solid terms after appearing to clash in late 2019 when he released his Crip-inspired “Love” remix.
Keyshia Cole + Ashanti Tease New Songs
Right after their Verzuz battle, Ashanti went to her social media pages to unload a new tune. Ashanti’s “2:35 (I Want You)” is immediately available, while Keyshia has yet to pull the trigger on releasing the song she previewed at the end of the Verzuz battle.
