Charli xcx rolled out The Moment, a mockumentary?
Charli xcx’s new movie The Moment is not a concert film, she said, but it is…a mockumentary? The pop star released the teaser for the highly anticipated film this week and it appeared to show the singer portraying a satirized version of herself as a high-wired diva. The minute-long clip also sketched out who the rest of its star-studded cast would be playing: Rachel Sennott, a neurotic groupie, Alexander Skarsgard, in a shadowy role, and Kendall Jenner as an “Apple” girl.
Nicki Minaj spoke at the U.N. after being invited by Trump-appointed ambassador Mike Waltz
In a Mad Libs moment this week, Nicki Minaj was tapped by Trump-appointed ambassador Mike Waltz to speak at the United Nations about the prosecution of Christians in Nigeria. Yeah, that’s a real sentence. During her four-minutes appearance in front of the UN panel, she thanked President Trump and said she was honored “to shine a spotlight on the deadly threats faced by thousands of Christians in Nigeria.”
The wider story around this is that at the top of November, Trump caused alarm in Nigeria after announcing he was considering launching troops or airstrikes into Nigeria, citing a “mass slaughter of Christians by Islamist insurgents,” per CNN. Reports from people on the ground, published by Associated Press and CNN, say that the reality in the country is more complicated, and that both Muslims and Christians have been victims to violence, and that some violence also stem from local land disputes.
Nigerian presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga told CNN that they were “shocked” by Trump’s plans and that they reject the claims they’re not doing enough to protect its Christian population.

Victoria Monét AI-artist Xania Monet
You don’t need to be a tech expert to notice how AI is getting more and more uncanny valley each day. Victoria Monét, however, has had to confront this fact personally when the AI artist Xania Monet emerged earlier this year. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Monét revealed that she’s suspected the artist was created using her name and likeness. “It’s hard to comprehend that, within a prompt, my name was not used for this artist to capitalize on,” she told Vanity Fair. “I don’t support that. I don’t think that’s fair. When that name starts to ring bells in a certain way, it can easily be mixed up with my brand. It’s not ideal.”
If you missed it, Xania Monet debuted on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, marking the “first known instance of an AI-based act to earn a spot on a Billboard radio chart,” according to the platform.
Camp Flog Gnaw’s new boosted lineup
Heavy rains in Los Angeles last weekend caused Tyler, the Creator to reschedule his music festival Camp Flog Gnaw for the new dates of November 22-23. To make amends with his fans, he announced four standout new additions to the lineup: Kali Uchis, Geese, Blood Orange, and fakemink. Alas, we were going to be there but can’t make the new dates, and will be looking on with FOMO.
