Addison Rae‘s debut album finally has a release date. Titled simply Addison, the project will be released on June 6 on Columbia Records, and will apparently be the “first and last album” by Rae, according to the pre-order description on her website.

Naturally, this has puzzled fans considering the project’s months-long build up and the energy she’s seemingly placed into her now blossoming music career. On Instagram, in her post announcing the project, she side-steps mentioning this little detail, too: “Addison. June 6th. 💐💐💐💐 Self-titled debut album!!!! I love the entirety of this project with all of me. A mirror. A deep desperation and desire to understand myself better. A true collection of my proudest work yet. My dream cover. My dream collaborators. Pre-save now to prepare a sweet home for her,” she wrote.

It’s easy to jump to conclusions — is she quitting music or, as one fan exaggeratedly joked on X, dying — but there’s a chance the reality is much less dire. The optimistic way to look at it would be that this is the first and last album she’ll be releasing under her full name Addison Rae, and that all of her subsequent releases will be released under a new moniker, likely just “Addison” (hence, the album title). That would technically still make her statement true, and the pop star herself even hinted that a name-change could be in the works. In a recent interview with Elle, she remarked, “I feel like I’ve surpassed Addison Rae. It’s just Addison now.”

It’s likely the world will simply have to wait for the record to come out — or until she does her next interview — to get the real story behind this choice of words. In the meantime, see everything we know so far about Addison here.
