Dallas-born dream pop artist Quiet Light, also known as Riya Mahesh, has officially signed with True Panther, the record label recognized for its work with artists such as Oklou, Grace Ives, and Model/Actriz.

Following the announcement of her signing on February 19, Mahesh promptly released “Berlin,” the lead single from her forthcoming mixtape, Blue Angel Sparkling Silver 2, which is scheduled for release on April 24.

“Berlin” immerses listeners in a lush soundscape of synth pads, propelled by a drum break reminiscent of early 2000s pop. This track seamlessly continues the ethereal pop style Mahesh established in her previous self-released projects, including 2024’s Pure Hearts and Going Nowhere, as well as her 2023 mixtape, Blue Angel Sparkling Silver—the direct precursor to her new release.

The accompanying music video for “Berlin,” directed by Richard Phillip Smith (known for his collaborations with artists like Vegyn, Slow Pulp, and Audrey Hobert), presents a poignant, dreamlike montage. It depicts Mahesh reflecting on memories of a past love within a domestic setting.

True Panther shared insights into Quiet Light’s unique journey in their Instagram signing announcement. They highlighted Mahesh’s ability to balance her deeply intimate music creation with a demanding medical school schedule. The label described her as “a Texan in Massachusetts. A prom queen with Clarice Lispector on her bookshelf. A doctor walking through the icy hospital halls with Shania Twain, Ana Roxanne and Angelo Badalamenti in her headphones.” True Panther expressed immense excitement to collaborate with her and share her prolific music with the world.
