Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill has been teasing his fans with snippets of new music lately. The rap star’s longtime friend and collaborator Drake is apparently tired of waiting to hear all of what Meek has in store for his return to the rap game.
Meek Mill’s New Song “Pain Away”
Clips of a new song called “Pain Away” have been floating around the Internet for weeks. The track features A Boggie Wit Da Hoodie and Roddy Rich. None other than Drake is eager to hear more. Drizzy left an eager message on Mill’s Instagram page pleading for the fire release.
Meek Mill’s Return To Rap
After putting out three albums in a four-year span, Meek hasn’t released a full project since 2018’s Championships. Of course, one major roadblock was that Meek went to prison for awhile. Since his release last summer, he’s been focused on community activism and criminal justice reform.
Meek Mill and LeBron James Demand Answers
Both Meek and LeBron James went to their social media pages to speak out after White actress Lori Loughlin was handed a very light sentence for her role in a college admissions scandal. Mill shared a heartbreaking story about a Black woman getting over 10 years behind bars for trying to help her son while James called out Loughlin for getting the luxury of choosing where she spends her two-month punishment in a college scandal.
“Now let’s get her out of jail and stop letting these “folks” step on us like animals!!!! Is she still in prison? #tanyamcdowell she got 12 years for trying to get her child better schooling!! NOW GO LOOK AT MY LAST POST!!! @reform let’s help her anyway we can!” -Meek Mill’s Instagram
“But had us 23/1 locked in a cell tryna turn us to terrorist! Y’all getting pretty bold with this shit! I’m going all the way about my freedom nowadays no cap ??” -Meek Mill’s Instagram
King James went even deeper with his Instagram post and couldn’t believe Loughlin could choose where she would spend her two-month punishment.
“Of her what!!??? ?????. I’m laughing cause sometimes you have to just to stop from crying! ??♂️. Don’t make no damn sense to me. We just want the same treatment if committed of same crime that’s all. Is that asking for to much??? Let me guess, it is huh. Yeah I know!! We’ll just keep pushing forward and not expecting the handouts! STRONG, BLACK & POWERFUL! ??✊??” -LeBron James’ Instagram
Drake Is Putting Finishing Touches On New Album
No official date has been given for the impending release of Drake’s Certified Lover Boy but speculation is that Drake’s sixth studio album — his first since 2018’s Scorpion — could become available as soon as this month. It appeared Drizzy was still putting some finishing touches on the project, though, when he posted an Instagram Story of himself working with his OVO Sound co-founder 40.
