FKA Twigs is Mary, mother of Jesus in The Carpenter’s Son teaser

The first look at Nicolas Cage and FKA twigs‘ new movie The Carpenter’s Son has arrived. The teaser trailer offers a brief look at the Lotfy Nathan-directed movie, which adds elements of fantasy and horror into the story of Jesus’ childhood inspired by the apocryphal Infancy Gospel of Thomas. Additional cast members include Souheila Yacoub and British actor Noah Jupe, who plays Jesus. Check out the teaser below.

A synopsis for the film reads as follows: “A boy, known only as ‘The Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, ‘The Carpenter’, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.”

The Carpenter’s Son represents twigs’ first movie role since she appeared alongside Bill Skarsgård in last year’s remake of the 1994 horror The Crow. Eusexua, the latest twigs album, dropped in January and she has recently suggested another album is due imminently.
