The sex trafficking and racketeering trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs saw testimony last week from Kid Cudi. The timeline of much of his testimony began in late 2011, when Cudi began a romantic relationship with Cassie, Diddy’s long-term, then ex-girlfriend who has accused him of rape and abuse. Cudi’s relationship with Cassie was marked by a number of disturbing incidents at his Hollywood Hills home, culminating in January 2012, when his Porsche was firebombed while parked in the driveway. Cudi blamed the attack on Diddy, and Cassie said during her testimony the previous week that Diddy had threatened to blow up Cudi’s car before the incident.

Cudi went on to testify about a meeting he had with Diddy years after the incident in order to “clear the air.” During the meeting, Cudi asked Diddy if he was responsible for torching his car; Diddy responded,”I don’t know what you are talking about.” Cudi testified that he believed that Diddy was lying in his response. Now, according to court documents viewed by The FADER, Diddy’s legal team are trying to get Cudi’s speculation struck from the trial.

In their motion submitted on May 26, Diddy’s attorneys call that area of Cudi’s testimony “highly improper.” Cudi also testified that, his knowledge, neither Diddy nor anyone affiliated with him was on his property at the time of the firebombing; given this, Diddy’s lawyers argue, keeping Cudi’s speculation would unfairly prejudice the jury against Diddy.
