Gorillaz
On September 3, Gorillaz debuted their new album in a mysterious phone-free performance. Today, just a little over a week later, the band has formally announced that new project, The Mountain, releasing in March 2026. The band shared the album’s first track, “The Happy Dictator,” and revealed that they will embark on an arena tour in the U.K. and Ireland in support of the album next spring.
The album will be their first since 2023’s Cracker Island. Below, find everything you need to know about the announcement, from the details of the album, tracklist, the singles, and the band’s upcoming tour dates.

The Mountain will be released on March 20, 2026. The album is the band’s first full-length project since their eighth studio album, Cracker Island, released in 2023. In a press release, the band revealed that the project contains 15 songs “that embody the very essence of Gorillaz’ collaborative ethos.”

The Mountain explores a new sound
Following the final night of their London House of Kong residency, where Gorillaz performed 10 songs from the unreleased album with guests Sparks and Johnny Marr, fans in attendance said the project presents a new, exciting sound.
Damon Albarn previously revealed that the songs were written in four languages. We now know that the project features performances in Arabic, English, Spanish, Hindi, and Yoruba, and was recorded in Studio 13 in London and Devon, Ashgabat, Damascus, and various cities in the U.S. and India, per a release.
The album’s art was created by Gorillaz member Jamie Hewlett
Gorillaz member and comic book illustrator Jamie Hewlett created the album art and was inspired by the band’s experiences in India as they worked on the project. The art will be available as a book and in 12×12 print form.
