Carly Rae Jepsen Announces New Double Album ‘Day and Night’

Pop icon Carly Rae Jepsen is officially returning to the spotlight with her first full-length project since 2022’s The Loneliest Time. The singer has confirmed the upcoming release of Day and Night, a sprawling 24-track double album that promises to showcase the duality of her artistic range.

For the past week, Jepsen has been building anticipation through a series of cryptic social media posts, sharing images of artifacts and objects alongside coordinates and lyrical snippets. These breadcrumbs have now been revealed as a thematic preamble to her latest era, which centers on the passage of time and the shifting moods of a 24-hour cycle.

A Tale of Two Sounds

According to the official press release, Day and Night is divided into two distinct sonic halves. The “day” side of the record is set to explore live instrumentation with a heavy emphasis on 70s-inspired psychedelic pop. In contrast, the “night” side will pivot toward the sleek, synth-driven dance pop that has become a hallmark of Jepsen’s discography.

The project is set for a September 18 release. Fans won’t have to wait long for a first taste of the new material, as the lead single, “On Wires,” is scheduled to drop this Friday, June 26.

Collaborative Vision

To bring this ambitious project to life, Jepsen has tapped a talented roster of collaborators and longtime friends. The production and songwriting credits include contributions from guitarist Tavish Crowe, Kyle Shearer—known for his work with Rina Sawayama and Allie X—as well as Nate Cyphert and Cole M.G.N., the latter of whom has previously worked with artists like Beck and Anderson.Paak.
