The 7 Super Bowl 2025 ads actually worth watching

Doja Cat stars in a Super Bowl advert for Taco Bell.

Kendrick Lamar aside, this year’s Super Bowl was devoid of any real intrigue as the Kansas City Chiefs capitulated to the Philadelphia Eagles and took a heavy beating. Away from the game, however, there was plenty in the ad breaks to keep the casual viewer entertained.

The price of a 30-second spot this year – and that’s before you get to fees for the A-list stars – crossed the $8m mark, a new record for the biggest sporting event of the year.

Naturally, brands went all out to make their expensive commerical real estate count. This led many to turn to some of the biggest musicians on the planet for a little star power. Here are 7 of the ads that stood out on Super Bowl Sunday.

Doechii’s inspirational message

Doechii narrated an ad starring Sha’Carri Richardson, Caitlin Clark and Jordan Chiles in which everything women are told they can’t do in sports (challenge, inspire, sell tickets, win) becomes fuel for their greatest achievements.

Bad Bunny cures the salty freaks

In which Bad Bunny, the smiliest man on the planet, acts as a contrast to notoriously arch actors Aubrey Plaza and Michael Shannon. It’s a fun premise in which all three stars play their roles perfectly.

CEO XCX

OK this one is a little out there. Uber Eats ad this year stars Matthew McConaughey as a conspiracy theorist who believes the Super Bowl was invented by Big Food to make big $$$. Part of his theory involves a scene in which this plan is shown to involve a board room of execs led by Charli xcx and Martha Stewart. Sure, why not?

Cher turns back time

“Cher is given a time machine” is a great pitch for a sketch and (another) Uber Eats ad ran with the idea. Unfortunately for Cher, her request to go back to the ’80s resulted in her winding up in the 1880s. Back then it was less hairspray and spandex and more witch trials, as Cher finds out to her horror.

Guys being dudes

Bud Light wants people to know that they’re a drink for the guys. Naturally, they turned to Post Malone and comedian Shane Gillis (plus a cameo by Peyton Manning) as a pair of dudes causing havoc in their suburban cul-de-sac. Don’t be surprised if this becomes a Netflix series by the end of the year.

Doja Cat gatecrashes the party

Who wouldn’t want Doja Cat in their ad? Taco Bell is the answer. Their ad this year revolved around an attempt to put the ordinary person first with strictly zero celebrities allowed. Doja Cat’s attempts to sneak into the ad regardless show off her impressive comic chops.

Shaboozey is tipsy on Nerds

Last time Shaboozy was involved in the NFL it was Christmas Day and he was performing with Beyoncé. Now he’s singing “What A Wonderful World” to promote Nerds gummy clusters. Life is a strange and confusing thing.
