Sky Ferreira has shared “Leash,” her first new music since 2022. The song appears in Babygirl, the upcoming A24 movie starring Nicole Kidman and Harrison Dickinson. Listen to “Leash” below.

Babygirl hits theaters on December 25 and tells the story of a sexual relationship between a high-powered CEO (Kidman) and a young intern (Harrison Dickinson).

Speaking to The FACE about “Leash,” Ferreira said she “wanted the song to reflect the hidden chaos in Babygirl. It’s about self-destruction and power dynamics. I’m so happy they went for it because it’s a bit… I’m not sure if “sinister” is the right word, but it’s definitely ’darker.’ It’s definitely based on Nicole Kidman’s performance.”

“Leash” was written by Ferreira alongside Jorge Elbrecht and produced with Elbrecht and Evan Voytas, It is Ferreira’s first independent release since leaving Capitol Records in 2023. Speaking in a recent interview Ferreira claimed the label “kept me from putting out new music for 10 years as a way of making me look like I’m incapable of it.”

Ferreira’s last album was 2013’s Night Time, My Time. A press release for “Leash” states that Masochism, her long-delayed sophomore album, is “now set for launch.”
