Pop Smoke Tops SoundCloud 2020 List

Late Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was posthumously honored as SoundCloud’s Top Artist of 2020. On the strength of his chart-topping Shoot For The Stars, Aim For the Moon album, Pop’s music has been streamed over 191.5 million times this year.

Pop Smoke’s Legacy Lives On

Pop Smoke was killed in February during a home invasion robbery. His posthumous debut album was released in July and included the platinum selling single “For the Night” and the Grammy-nominated single “Dior.” SoundCloud’s annual returns have Pop Smoke as the streaming platform’s most popular artist.

Pop Smoke’s Movie Debut Set For 2021

Pop Smoke will be making his big screen debut posthumously on March 5, 2021. Reports have revealed that Pop’s acting debut will come in the Hollywood film Boogie directed by Eddie Huang.

Director Talks About Working With Pop Smoke

Huang took to his own Instagram to share the news of the release date. He also previously spoke on Pop’s hard work ethic and praised him for his nonstop grind.

“He gave me a thousand percent. They were tough 16-hour days, overnights, and he shot five overnights in a row. Kids were coming on the bridge to watch us shoot the scenes. We would play Pop’s record,” he said. “All our actors, the extras, the kids on the bridge watching us shoot scenes, everyone was doing the Woo dance. Nas’ Daughter Sends Love To Pop

Nas‘ daughter Destiny Jones has been throwing it up for Pop Smoke. She went online last month posted up with a friend in downtown Los Angeles. Jones shared her fit to Instagram and quoted lyrics from the late rapper’s “Mood Swings” in her caption.
